Dirt – Use a brown yarn (around size 4) and start with a magic circle adding single crochets into the circle. Make increasing rounds until you reach your desired width for your post size, so when stuffed it will fill the pot and be snug. Continue the rounds, decreasing where appropriate to create a sphere like shape that may be a bit oblong to fit the pot. Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Main branch – In the same manner, start with green yarn and a magic circle with single crochets into the circle. Increase rows until a desired width is reached, then start your decreasing rows alternated with single crochet rows. To get the tapered effect, alternate single crochets and invisible decreases every other stitch for that row. Use a darning needle to attach to the dirt.

Side branches – Follow the same steps as the main branch on a smaller scale. Use a darning needle to attach the branches to the main stem.

Flower – Use a white yarn and start with a magic circle with as many single crochets into the circle as you want petals, sl st and fasten off. Work in your coloured yarn for the petals, and do 3-5 double crochets into a single stitch, followed by a slip stitch. Repeat the dc into each sc white stitch all the way around, sl st and fasten off. Use a darning needle to attach to a cactus branch.

Crochet cacti have captured the hearts of crafters worldwide, offering a delightful blend of creativity, charm, and low-maintenance beauty. Whether you’re a seasoned crocheter or a beginner looking for a new project, crafting a crochet cactus can bring endless joy and satisfaction.
